Mum-of-two, 29, reveals the regime that saw her drop a staggering 30kg in just nine months

A busy mum-of-two has revealed exactly how she dropped an impressive 30kg in just nine months, and how you can too.

Brooke Baker, 29, from south coast NSW, tipped the scales at 106 kilograms and was constantly tired, bloated and struggling to keep up with her two young kids when she decided it was time to make a change.

Just nine months after embarking on a program with Australia’s leading weight loss program The Healthy Mummy, Brooke has lost nine 30kg and now weighs just 75kg.

‘I have so much more energy than I’ve ever had before,’ Brooke told The Healthy Mummy

‘Instead of sitting back and watching, I can be involved in all the activities with my children and not feel totally exhausted which is what has kept me motivated all along.’

She added: ‘I just want to be the healthiest and happiest version of myself for not only me but my family’.

A typical day on Brooke’s plate revealed 

BREAKFAST: A Healthy Mummy smoothie packed full of fruit, vegetables and protein to keep her full.

MORNING TEA: Healthy bliss ball.

LUNCH: Another healthy smoothie.

AFTERNOON TEA: Various dips and veggie sticks, a muffin or yoghurt.

DINNER: Something like healthy lasagne, naked chicken parmi or a chicken curry potato bake.

So how did the 29-year-old shift the weight and drop from a size 20-22 to a dress size 10 so quickly?  

First of all, she signed up to the Healthy Mummy’s diet and exercise program.

Replacing high-fat, high-sugar foods like chips and chocolate with the likes of healthy smoothies for breakfast and lunch and meals like lasagne and chicken curry potato bake for dinner, Brooke said she was quickly and easily able to drop some weight.

She now snacks on energy-dense foods like bliss balls, vegetable sticks and dips and healthy chocolate coconut brownies, and this means she is never tempted to reach for the biscuit tin. 

Brooke’s favourite meals include a naked chicken parmi, sweet potato and pumpkin soup and something that is described as ‘hidden veg sausage roll’ on the Healthy Mummy app.

Alongside the healthy meals and snacks, Brooke said she has incorporated quick and easy workouts into her routine.

She now does one total body class with weights per week, as well as step and kick boxing.

She also walks a lot, and describes it as ‘one of my main forms of exercise’.

Within nine months, Brooke said she was pleased to see results on the scales.

And while it was tough at times, the 29-year-old said consistency is key to success: 

‘I’ve found meal prepping so helpful,’ she said. ‘Being organised and always having my snacks prepared means I’m not as tempted to grab at unhealthy choices.

‘I do still enjoy takeaway with my family when I like to and just add it to my calories, I don’t dangerously restrict myself and still live a very happy balanced lifestyle.’

‘Pictures and measurements are much more reliable than the scales,’ she said. 

‘It helped me to remind myself that this is a lifestyle, not a diet when I was struggling.’ 

Brooke added: ‘Remember, this won’t happen overnight, not every day will be perfect but as long as you show up everyday and give it your best that day, you will see results.

‘Trust in the process and believe in yourself.’
