The satirical, mockumentary-style movie pits Hall and Brown as proud first lady and pastor duo Trinitie and Lee-Curtis Childs, a couple leading a Southern Baptist megachurch. But when a scandal hits the sanctuary, the two must plan the comeback of a lifetime to rebuild their church and gain their congregation’s trust again. “This is going to chronicle the ultimate comeback,” Brown’s Lee-Curtis tells a camera crew in the film’s trailer, which released on July 7.
If the “Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul.” trailer is only a small preview of how funny Hall and Brown are together on screen, then viewers better prepare for plenty more gut-busting laughs. As if there wasn’t enough star power leading the film, Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya is on board as one of the many producers. Focus Features, Peacock, and Jordan Peele‘s Monkeypaw Productions hold the film’s distribution rights.
The film, writer Adamma Ebo’s directorial debut, premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, rising to critical acclaim. Now, “Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul.” will make its way to theaters and streaming later this year. Read ahead for everything we know about the satire film so far, including the cast, release date, and trailer.
