Ex-WWE star Braun Strowman reveals intense regime behind weight loss

Former WWE Superstar Braun Strowman – real name Adam Scherr – has revealed how an intense fitness regime has led to major weight loss.

Strowman was renowned during his time with the company as being one of the most powerful wrestlers on the main roster. Standing at 6ft 8in tall and having a billed weight of 385lb, Strowman was imposing against any opponent.

His rapid rise to the top showed the esteem in which WWE held him. Just months after debuting, Strowman entered the 2016 Royal Rumble and achieved the most single match eliminations in Rumble history.

Other feats of strength included destroying three local competitors in a handicap match before entering the Royal Rumble again in 2017 and eliminating renowned strongmen Mark Henry and Big Show. In 2019, he took on Tyson Fury at the Super ShowDown event in Saudi Arabia.

At WrestleMania 36, Strowman defeated Goldberg to win the first Universal Championship of his career.

However, just over a year later, he was surprisingly released by WWE.

Since his departure, Strowman has founded his own wrestling promotion alongside fellow former WWE competitor EC3. It is called ‘Control Your Narrative‘.

Alongside that, the 38-year-old has been working on his fitness. As a wrestler, it is imperative that you keep in strong physical shape. But it is also vital to keep finding ways to improve so you can continue to perform at peak levels. Strowman has done precisely that.

Braun Strowman reveals new fitness regime

Speaking to Men’s Health, Strowman revealed how he changed his diet, which previously consisted of 15,000-20,000 calories a day, and opted for a new physical workout.

He explained: “The biggest thing on the road, whether it was being full time on the schedule with WWE or getting more busy with Control Your Narrative, is hotel gym workouts.

“Usually, there’s a treadmill, maybe a bench and dumbbells up to like 50 pounds. So I just do a full-body workout. Just blow it through.

“I grab like 25 or 30-pound dumbells, a set of 20 lateral raises, set of 20 front raise, set of 20 rear deits. Go through like five times of that to fill the blood up.

“Do some overhead tricep kickbacks, do some air squats, shrugs, all sets of 20, high volume.

“I just keep it going, just to literally get it done in like 40 minutes. Break a sweat, pump the muscles full of blood, get the cells ready for the glycogen to come back in, and then go out there and do the thing.”

Strowman also revealed that he utilises techniques learned during his strongman days to help him keep fit. The results are certainly showing.

Strowman is technically a reigning champion in WWE, having won the ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’ event in 2018. The event hasn’t been staged since. But with his WWE days behind him – at least for now – he has found other areas to occupy his time.
